The United States Extends Travel Restrictions Between Mexico, Canada
The United States has extended Covid-19 restrictions on non essential travel across the northern and southern borders until July 21st. According to a tweet from the Department of Homeland Security “to reduce the spread of Covid-19, the United States is extending restrictions on non-essential travel at our land and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico through July 21, while ensuring access for essential trade & travel.”
In March of last year, the U.S. and Canada agreed to close the border to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This past Friday, Canadian Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair announced that Canada has also extended their restrictions until the 21st. Currently it’s unknown whether the restriction will be further extended. Currently Mexico allows U.S. travelers by air.
