American Airlines is Canceling Hundreds of Flights Through mid-July

American Airlines is canceling hundreds of flights through mid-July. On Saturday, the airline had 120 cancellations and the company is projecting 50 to 80 additional cancellations per day going forward according to Shannon Gilson a spokesperson for the company. Following the pandemic, industries across the country have struggled to hire employees as they attempt to go back to their pre-pandemic norms. That in addition to the surge in demand for air travel and unprecedented bad weather are other factors for why many flights have been canceled.

Customers who have booked flights through July 15th will be notified or should have already received notifications if their flights have been canceled so they can make travel adjustments in advance. Gibson said the cancellations will be spread throughout it’s system to minimize impact in a single area but the airline’s Dallas-Forth Worth hub is said to be most affected by the scheduling issues.
