New Emails Show Trump Allies Pressured DOJ To Investigate 2020 Election

Newly released e-mails from the Justice Department and White House officials show how former President Trump’s allies pressured former Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to consider false and outlandish allegations that the 2020 election had been stolen. The documents released yesterday by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, offer a glimpse at how Rosen dealt with the political pressure coming from the White House. Trump’s campaign to pressure Rosen was unfolding as he was replacing Attorney General William Barr who publicly said there wasn’t evidence of widespread voter fraud. In one exchange White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows wanted Rosen to arrange an FBI meeting with an ally of Rudy Giuliani who was pushing a conspiracy which Rosen refused to do. The emails also reveal how the former President directed other allies to press Rosen to join the legal effort to challenge the results of the 2020 election.
