President Biden Met With Leaders of the European Union Before Travelling to Geneva
President Biden met with leaders of the European Union today in Brussels. The President and members of his cabinet discussed both economic and technological challenges facing their countries. During the meeting the United States and European Union settled a 17 year disagreement over how much each subsidizes its largest aircraft manufacturer. The resolution underscores Biden’s aim to restore the transatlantic ties during his tour and normalize the U.S. alliances. He also met with the King of Belgium and the Belgian Prime Minister.
Tomorrow, Biden is set to meet with President Putin in Geneva. Earlier this month, he held a meeting with a group of Russia experts to get their input on dealing with Putin ahead of the summit. Among the attendees were Angela Stent the former National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council, former U.S Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, former National Security Council Senior Director for Russia Fiona Hill, and many more. The group told President Biden not to hold a joint press conference with Putin after the talks.
