Vice President Harris Meets With Foreign Presidents Over Immigration Crisis

Vice President Kamala Harris is in the midst of her first foreign trip to Central America. She traveled to Guatemala and will also head to Mexico as part of her role leading efforts to stem the flow of migration from those areas to the U.S. border. According to her staff, Harris is expected to focus on economic developments, climate and food insecurity, as well as women and young people during her trip.

Yesterday, Harris met with Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei and other Guatemalan community leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs and the U.S. embassy staff. Today, Harris will travel to Mexico to meet with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and participate in a conversation with female entrepreneurs, hold a roundtable with labor workers and meet U.S. mission Mexico staff.
