Massive Internet Outage Hits Websites, Apps Ran By ‘Fastly’

A number of websites and apps throughout the world went down for about an hour this morning after ‘Fastly’ a major content delivery network provider reported a widespread failure. ‘Fastly’ supports websites and apps like CNN, the Guardian and the New York Times. It also provides content delivery for Twitch, Pinterest, HBO Max, Hulu, Reddit and Spotify and also works with Amazon, Target, and the U.K. government website gov.uk…. all of which were affected this morning.

Fastly helps improve load times for websites and provides other services to internet sites, apps and platforms. The company said it’s service status website identified and fixed the issue. Service for the sites and apps was restored shortly after 7 a.m. The outage affected dozens of countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia and South Africa.
