Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos And His Brother Mark Are Going To Space

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is going to space. He will be flying on the first crewed flight aboard the Blue Origin, which is an aerospace manufacturer and sub-orbital space flight services company. The 59 foot long rocket, called New Shepard, will take an 11 minute flight on July 20th and is expected to reach more than 60 miles above Earth during that time. Bezos’ younger brother Mark will also be joining him aboard the capsule. Bezos made a statement on Instagram saying quote “ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space, on July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend.” If all goes as planned, Bezos will be the first of the billionaire space tycoons to ride on a rocket he’s poured millions into developing. One seat will be given to the winner of a month-long auction that’s underway. The bidding for that seat is currently over $2.8 million. Bezos is expected to resign as CEO of Amazon on July 5th, 15 days prior to the voyage.
