Millions Of Travelers Expected For Memorial Day Weekend

Heading into this weekend, Travel is up at airports across the United States. Millions of Americans are expected to travel whether by plane or automobile as summer unofficially begins. AAA reported earlier this month that more than 37 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more from their homes between yesterday and Monday which is a 60% jump compared to last year and only 6 million people less than Memorial Day weekend in 2019.

Several airlines have seen a surge in bookings thanks to the Covid-19 vaccine, a reduction in cases of the virus and travel restrictions being lifted. Some airports in the United States are already seeing pre-pandemic passenger traffic levels with over 2 million traveling throughout the U.S. daily. Airline passengers should expect long check-in and TSA lines as well as extended waits.
