According to Microsoft, Russian Hackers Have Struck Again in the U.S.

According to Microsoft, Russian hackers have struck again. The hackers behind one of the worst data breaches ever to hit the U.S. government have launched a new cyberattack on more than 150 government agencies. The group ‘Nobelium’ has targeted over 3,000 email accounts at various organizations over the week and most of those were in the United States. Microsoft believes the hackers are part of the group behind the SolarWinds attack that targeted at least 9 U.S. federal agencies and 100 companies.

Cyberattacks are on the rise this year as a group of hackers also from Russia used a malicious code to take control of the Colonial Pipeline earlier this month which led to limited supply of gasoline here in the south. Microsoft said that at least a quarter of the targets in this weeks attack were involved in international development, humanitarian and human rights work across 24 countries. The White Houses National Security Council and the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency are both aware of the incident and working with the FBI.
