You’ve heard the phrase “sharing is caring” but, streaming companies don’t see it that way. From Netflix to Disney+, streaming services are asking customers to stop sharing their accounts with friends and family. Password sharing is said to cost the companies billions of dollars. The lost revenue seems small for an industry making roughly 120 billion dollars a year but, as in-house productions grow, the streaming services say they need the extra revenue to fuel bigger projects. Recently, Netflix sent out pop-ups asking users to verify their accounts through e-mail or text.
