Pfizer Vaccine Could Be Approved for Adolescents by Next Week
Pfizer plans to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to authorize the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine for adolescents ages 12 to 15.
Pfizer wants children to have access to its covid-19 vaccine. The company plans to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to authorize the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine for adolescents ages 12 to 15 and they could be eligible to receive the shots as early as next week. If approved, the children would be able to get their vaccines before summer camps and the start of the 2021-22 school year. The company also plans to ask the FDA to authorize emergency use of its vaccine for children between the ages of two and eleven. The CEO says it will submit the request in September. Daily U.S. covid-19 case and death totals are now about one-fifth of what they were during the winter peaks.
