A tornado ripped through Tupelo, Mississippi last night. Destruction was reported across the state after multiple areas saw severe storms. Following the tornado, the mayor’s office in Tupelo warned residents to stay in their homes while crews worked to assess the damage. The same line of storms caused damage in the town of Calhoun City and Yazoo City. Today the National Weather Service will help to determine the number of confirmed tornadoes that went through the central part of the state. Fortunately there have been no reports of injuries. But, multiple communities have experience downed trees, power lines and debris left to clean up. Meanwhile, officials have issued a tornado warning for nearly 100 million residents living in Georgia and Alabama.
