U.S. To Send Supply Of AstraZeneca Vaccine To Other Countries In Upcoming Months

According to an announcement made yesterday, the United States plans to share million of doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine with other countries in the upcoming months. The decision was made because of the surplus of other vaccines approved for use in the United States. There are tens of millions of AstraZeneca vaccines stockpiled but none have been used because the vaccine hasn’t been granted emergency use authorization by the FDA, who will conduct a review of the doses before they leave the county and the plan for distribution is still being developed. Multiple world leaders have asked President Biden to share the doses with their countries including India which is going through one of the worst Covid-19 surges in the world. One official said the U.S. is looking at ways to boost vaccine production in India and other countries and White House Press Secretary Jennifer Psaki said the U.S. would provide “raw materials for the production of AstraZeneca covidshield vaccine.”
