Tidelands Health Officials Met With Community Members About A New Hospital In The Carolina Bays Area

Last night, Tidelands Health leaders presented plans for a new hospital in the Carolina Bays area to community members. ‘Tidelands Health Carolina Bays Hospital’ will be located at Highway 707 and Peat Moss Road. Officials say they expect 36 beds with an emergency room. Air transport will be limited to two to three transports a month and it will not have a trauma center. Dozens of residents expressed concerns about the new hospital including excessive noise, traffic and bright lights. Tidelands Health President and CEO Bruce Bailey said a traffic light will be added to the road to help with the increase in traffic and they’ll look into buffer zones, trees or fences to help with noise. The next step is for plans to be presented to the Horry County Planning and Zoning Committee on Thursday and on May 6th.
