Family Of Man Killed By N.C. Officers View Body Camera Footage

This morning, officials in Elizabeth City North Carolina declared a State of Emergency ahead of the possible release of body camera footage of the fatal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. Brown’s family and their attorney’s watched video of the incident privately at the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office this morning at 11:30 a.m. and a press conference will be held this afternoon. Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools are operating on a full remote schedule for all students and staff through Friday.

The footage will be released to the public if it won’t affect the investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten II said “Only a judge can release the video. Once I get that confirmation, our county will file a motion in court, hopefully Monday, to have the footage released.” Last Wednesday, Sheriff’s Deputies in Pasquotank County were serving a drug-related search and arrest warrant on Brown when he was shot. Seven deputies have been placed on leave in connection with the shooting.
