New Footage Of Fatal Police Shooting In Ohio Released

An update on the fatal police shooting in Ohio we told you about yesterday…. Officials have released additional body cam footage from the incident. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said “We don’t yet have all of the facts but we do know that a 16-year-old girl, a child of this community, tragically died.”  He said investigators will determine if the officer involved was wrong in his choice of actions. The officer has been identified as Nicholas Reardon, he was hired in December 2019 and has been taken off street duty pending the investigation.

Reardon fired four shots at Ma’khia Bryant as she was going after two other girls with a knife. According to Interim Police Chief Michael Woods, Officers attempted life saving measures ‘almost immediately’ and medics were on the scene within 6 minutes. Yesterday afternoon, demonstrators including students from Ohio State University marched toward the state capitol building in downtown Columbus. Demonstrations continued throughout the evening.
