CDC Officials Meet To Discuss The Johnson and Johnson Vaccine

Advisers of the CDC are meeting today to discuss the Johnson and Johnson Coronavirus vaccine and review blood clot cases. Yesterday, the CDC and FDA recommended the pause of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine after six people reported cases of a ‘rare and severe’ type of blood clot. The cases were among over 6.8 million Americans who received the single dose vaccine and were among women between the ages of 18 and 48 who’s symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after the shot. The pause comes out of an ‘abundance of caution’ and cases appear to be ‘extremely rare’ as Dr. Anthony Fauci noted during a White House briefing yesterday “less than 1 in a million”. The pause comes as officials race the clock  to get as many shots into arms as possible to beat another surge as the B.1.1.7 variant becomes more dominant.
