The national guard has been deployed after a shooting in Minnesota lead to protesting last night. Yesterday afternoon, a black man was shot by a Police Officer and died following a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center about 10 miles from where former Police Officer Derek Chauvin’s trial is happening. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz identified the man killed in the incident as 20 year old Daunte Wright. Around 2 p-m Police said they were trying to take a man into custody after learning during a traffic stop that he had outstanding warrants.

According to Police, Wright got back into his vehicle and an officer shot him. He then drove several blocks before striking another vehicle. Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon said Police and Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures following the crash but Wright died at the scene. Body camera footage of the incident exists but has not been released yet. Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
