Congress Returns To Washington D.C.

Members of Congress are returning to Washington D.C. this week after a two week recess. A few items up for discussion include immigration, President Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure and tax plan, mass shootings and hate crimes against Asian Americans. The Senate is expected to vote on that matter on Wednesday. They’ll also vote on making the District of Columbia the 51st state, raising minimum wage and legislation to try to rein in China’s economic influence on the U.S. Some Democratic lawmakers were invited to meet with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday to discuss reaching a compromise on increasing minimum wage.  President Biden will also meet with a bipartisan group of lawmakers in the oval office today to discuss his infrastructure plan.
