SC Senate Votes Unanimously To Require All School Districts To Offer Full Classroom Instruction
The South Carolina Senate voted to require all school districts in the state to offer full weeks of in-person learning by April 12th. The Bill was approved unanimously by all Senators on Wednesday and ensures students will be provided daily face-to-face learning in the last month of the school year and next year as well. Under the bill, districts would be banned from making teachers give instruction both virtually and in person unless there are ‘extreme and unavoidable circumstances’ in which case they would be paid more. Currently, 54 of South Carolina’s 79 traditional schools are back to five days of face to face classes. The bill still needs approval from the House.
