President Biden Releases New Coronavirus Vaccination Timeline

President Biden has released a new Coronavirus vaccine timeline. During a briefing held at the White House yesterday, Biden updated his vaccination benchmarks and announced that 20,000 local pharmacies would be given the ability to administer the vaccine which will bring the total number of pharmacies giving shots to 40,000. He also hopes to open about a dozen mass vaccination sites across the nation. 33 million doses of the vaccine will be available this week. Biden has been pushing states to expand their vaccine ability and has promised that every American adult would be eligible by the end of May. So far, 31 states have expanded their eligibility and 90% of Americans will be eligible by April 19th.

On that date, Biden said 90% of Americans would have a vaccination site within 5 miles of their residence. Currently only 16% of the population are fully vaccinated. Yesterday, the CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky shared that new cases of Coronavirus, hospitalizations and deaths are beginning to rise again and says it may just be the start of another surge, something experts have been warning about. During the briefing yesterday, Walensky said she’s ‘scared’ about where the U.S. is heading.
