President Biden Held His First Press Conference Yesterday
President Biden held his first press conference yesterday at the White House. He broke ground on his views of the Senate filibuster saying “we’re going to have to go beyond what I’m talking about” after a lengthy answer about his promise to Americans. Biden said he was open to making changes to the Senate rule on issues he called ‘elemental’ to Democracy like voting rights for example. He also said he expects to run for reelection in 2024… saying “I’m a great respecter of fate. I’ve never been able to plan four and a half, three and a half years ahead for certain.” Since taking office, his main focus has been the coronavirus pandemic. During the conference, he named a new goal on vaccines: 200 million doses to be distributed in his first 100 days. He also was asked about his infrastructure package, the two mass shootings, immigration, foreign policy and his efforts on gun control.
