How to Get More Use Out of Your Soap
Irish Spring isn’t just for a St. Patty’s day lather. The soap can be used for hacks all over the house.
Slice the bar into half inch cubes and place them around your garden to ward off pests. Tuck a bar under your linens for a remaining fresh smelling scent.
Also, treat clothing stains. Rub it directly onto oily stains as a pre-treatment. It’s especially good for cosmetics, crayon or sweat. Deodorize your shoes by tucking an opened bar in each sneaker and leave them overnight.
You can also tuck a bar under your bottom sheet to ease restless legs symptoms. For this one, some say other brands like Dial, Dove and Ivory work well.
You can lubricate zippers so they don’t get stuck. But, make sure to coat the teeth above and below the area that seems to get hung up. You can also use soap to lubricate a sticking wooden drawer. Simply rub the bar over any areas where the drawers meet the dresser. Also, you can use a bar as a pincushion. The oils in the soap will help the points glide more smoothly through the fabric and the scent is a bonus.
