An Update On The Shootings In Georgia

We have an update on the shootings that happened in Georgia on Tuesday. The suspect, 21 year old Robert Long’s exact motive isn’t clear but it’s been reported that his actions were motivated by a sex addiction, not race, and he may have frequented some of the spas where the shootings took place. He was attempting to take out that temptation that is according to Cherokee County Sheriff’s Captain Jay Baker. During the first shooting, 4 people died and one person was injured at ‘Young’s Asian Massage’ parlor in Acworth, Georgia. During the other two shootings at ‘Gold Spa’ and ‘Aromatherapy Spa’ in Atlanta another 4 people were killed along with one injury. 6 of the 8 victims were Asian women. Victims in the Acworth shooting have been identified but the victims of the Atlanta shootings have yet to be released. Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds said after the department posted surveillance video from the scenes on their social media accounts they were contacted by members of Long’s family indicating that it might be their son. They were then able to locate him using his cellphone.  He was taken into custody 4 hours later 150 miles south of the city. Long told them he was heading to Florida and intended to carry out more shootings there. He was scheduled to be arraigned this morning but, waved his right and faces eight murder charges and one count of assault.
