$29 Million In Texas Electric Bills Will Be Forgiven
The nearly $29 million in electric bills produced by last months Texas snow storm will be forgiven. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Tuesday that the relief is part of a bankruptcy plan set up by Griddy Energy, the provider is accused of overcharging customers by thousands of dollars. Griddy filed for bankruptcy on Monday becoming the third energy provider to do so since the storm. In data released by the Texas Department of State Health Services on Monday, it was recorded that at least 57 people died during the storm. Griddy’s plan offers to ‘release approximately 24,000 former customers who owe $29.1 million in unpaid electric bills’.
