House To Vote On Immigration Bills Thursday

President Biden is facing challenges when it comes to immigration. The House is planning a vote on two bills tomorrow to help immigrants. One would grant ‘dreamers’ a path to citizenship and one would protect farm workers who are in the U.S. illegally. Both are likely to pass in the House but could be held up in the Senate because of the 60 vote hurdle and Republican opposition. Members of the Democratic Party also want the immigration bill Biden recommended but it doesn’t have the votes to pass in the House in it’s current form. Over the weekend, The White House said it’s mobilizing FEMA to the border to have a relief focused agency handle the waves of unoccupied children arriving at the border. There are an estimated 11 million people in the U.S. illegally. Senator Lindsey Graham said “It’s going to be really hard to get a bipartisan bill put together on anything that has a legalization component until you stop the flow.”
