Biden Signs Covid-19 Relief Bill, Opens Vaccinations to All Adults Starting May 1st
In a surprising move, President Biden signed his American Rescue Plan into law yesterday. The president was initially slated to sign the bill later today but after the U.S. House delivered their final vote earlier than expected, he didn’t want to wait. The nearly $2 trillion Covid-19 relief bill was his top priority upon entering office and has now become his first major legislative win. Despite wanting bipartisan support, not a single Republican in the House or Senate voted for it. But the package appears to have garnered wide spread support from the majority of American people. The president also gave his first prime-time address last night where he offered more glimmers of hope. This included a directive to all states, tribes and territories to open up vaccinations to all Americans over the age of 18 starting May 1st. President Biden hopes life could begin a return to normal just in time for the 4th of July. But he made it extremely clear, we cannot achieve this unless everyone continues to follow safety measures and gets vaccinated as soon as possible.
