Covid-19 Safety Restrictions Begin to Loosen in South Carolina

Coronavirus safety restrictions are being loosened across South Carolina. To start, North Myrtle Beach has dropped its mask requirement for restaurants. City officials made the call yesterday after Governor McMaster signed an executive order lowering the status of mask ordinances in restaurants from a requirement to a guideline. DHEC also just released revised rules for in-person, indoor nursing home visitations. They will be allowed if the following standards are met: the facility’s county has an equal to or less than 10%  positivity rate, no cases among staff or residents within the last 14 days, and CMS’ core Covid-19 prevention principles are being adhered to. The six counties that currently have a higher than 10% positivity rate are: Allendale, Barnwell, Chesterfield, Lancaster, McCormick and York.
