The House is finally set to vote on the $1.9 trillion dollar coronavirus relief bill today.
Congress had been expecting to vote on President Biden’s plan yesterday, but due to issues with the Senate it was pushed back. Finally, after months of political back and forth, one of the most ambitious relief plans in U.S. history is anticipated to pass. The President will sign off on it shortly after. When all is said and done, President Biden intends to embark on a media and travel blitz. His aim is to make benefits from the temporary measure more permanent. This includes raising the minimum wage to $15 dollars an hour, increasing subsidies for health insurance, expanding the child tax credit and more. But, in order to make it happen, the President will need to get more republicans on board. He will do this by personally appealing to Americans nationwide and hosting joint sessions with congress. President Biden will begin his venture with a prime time address set for tomorrow night.
