Southwest Airlines Coming to Myrtle Beach Airport
Southwest is joining the list of airlines with service in and out of Myrtle Beach.
The airline announced plans to add flights to three new airports, including Myrtle Beach International. Southwest Chairman and CEO Gary Kelly said “we’re looking to start Myrtle Beach service in time for summer vacations.” In 2019, MYR saw about 2.6 million passengers come through. But, During 2020 and the COVID crisis, travel activity declined. However, as a popular tourist destination, the Myrtle Beach airport has recovered at a faster rate than the national average. The addition of Southwest means that MYR will now have 9 airlines.
