NY Gov. Cuomo Accused of Workplace Sexual Harassment

Backlash against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo escalated this weekend as he now faces two allegations of workplace sexual harassment. The first was made by former Cuomo aide Lindsey Boylan. In a detailed online post shared last week, Boylan claimed the governor kissed her on the lips once after a one-on-one briefing. She also said he verbally sexually harassed her, citing one time in 2017 where he asked her to “play strip poker”. Cuomo denied her claims almost immediately. Less than a week later, Charlotte Bennett also came out with her own stunning claims. The former executive assistant to the governor accused him of similar conversations that were sexual in nature. Following this revelation, the governor appears to be backtracking on some of his earlier statements. He recognized some of his comments “may have been insensitive or too personal” and apologized to those who “misinterpreted the remarks as an unwanted flirtation.” However, he still denies ever inappropriately touching or propositioning anyone. Calls are being made for the New York Attorney General to hold a formal investigation into the allegations.
