Last Night Marked End to 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference

Last night marked the finale to the Conservative Political Action Conference and here were the main takeaways from the event…First making headlines on Friday was Sen. Ted Cruz’s passionate speech. He reiterated that the GOP was the party of hard working Americans but there were mixed reactions after he made light of visiting Cancun while his home state of Texas suffered through an unprecedented and deadly winter storm. Another memorable moment came when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy predicted the GOP will take back the majority in 2022, gambling his house on it. But the most noteworthy speech was the one former President Trump gave last night. In his first public appearance since leaving the White House, he criticized President Biden over a range of issues. He also continued to tout election fraud conspiracy theories, suggested a 2024 run for president, and confirmed he would remain loyal to the GOP by stating he has no interest in starting his own political party.
