Tiger Woods Awake, Recovering Following Serious Car Crash

Tiger Woods is “awake, responsive and recovering” following a horrific car accident in Los Angeles yesterday morning. The 45-year-old golf pro was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash. The front end of his 2021 Hyundai Genesis SUV was “totally destroyed” and Woods had to be freed from the wreckage by ‘the jaws of life’. He was described as “calm and lucid” during that time. He was then transported to a hospital where he received emergency surgery for serious injuries to his right leg. This includes fractures to his upper and lower tibia and fibula bones. A rod was inserted into his leg, as well as screws and pins to his foot and ankle. The Los Angeles County Sheriff confirmed Woods was driving along a curvy, downhill stretch of road in a coastal suburb where accidents have occurred before. It appears Woods was driving at a “relatively greater speed than normal” when he struck a raised median, went flying across two oncoming lanes, hit a tree, and settled sideways on an embankment. First responders reported no obvious signs of intoxication but toxicology reports have yet to come back.
