8 Wounded in Shooting at Philadelphia Subway Station
Eight people were hurt after a shooting broke out near a Philadelphia subway station yesterday afternoon. Gun fire erupted around 2:50 p.m. near SEPTA’s Olney Transportation Center. The area was full of pedestrians who were sent scattering but eight unfortunate people were hit. A 17-year-old girl was hit in the arm, 4 others suffered gunshot wounds to their legs, another man was shot in the back, and a woman was grazed on her stomach. One man, a 71-year-old, was also hit in both his legs and his stomach. The severity of all their conditions have yet to be released. One suspect was arrested at the station and two additional firearms were recovered. Investigators are now looking into the possibility that this event may be connected to a string of other recent shootings that have occurred in the area. Philadelphia’s mayor said of the incident “I am beyond sickened…People have the right to travel between work and home, and around town, without the fear of being shot, and possibly killed, by reckless, indiscriminate gunfire.”
