Winter Storms Cause Nine Deaths in Texas
Yesterday, at least nine people were killed near the Dallas-Fort Worth area due to winter weather.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, a massive car pileup involving 133 vehicles left six people dead. That pileup took place yesterday morning and was roughly a mile long. Many people were trapped in their vehicles, requiring hydraulic equipment to free them. The Fort Worth Fire Chief reported that 36 adults were taken to local hospitals. The accident was one of many in the area caused by freezing rain and accumulating ice. The three other deaths were also due to icy roads. As of right now officials have not released the identities of the deceased but say more than 300 accidents were reported overnight.
