President Biden to Rollback Trump Policy on Migrants at Southern Border

The Biden Administration is preparing to allow migrants into the united states. This will be the latest step by President Biden to roll back some of former president Trump’s immigration policies. The migrants had sought asylum under the Trump Administration but were forced to stay in Mexico as they awaited a hearing before a judge. The Secretary of Homeland Security said according to President Biden, the U.S. government is committed to rebuilding a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system. As of right now, no timeline has been set for when the change will take place or how many migrants would initially qualify. But, the DHS has said that there will be three ports of entry where people with asylum cases can be reprocessed. The government estimates there are around 25,000 individuals who are waiting in Mexico under the policy and up to 300 people will likely be re-processed daily at the three ports.
