Plane Skids Off Runway in Pittsburgh

A scary incident took place at Pittsburgh’s International Airport last night. According to the airport, a Delta plane that was getting ready for take off slid off the tarmac while approaching its departure runway. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The flight had 77 people on board and was heading to Atlanta. One passenger said a few people became frantic and upset, but thankfully they started to calm down once the plane came to a stop.
A slide could not be used to get people off the plane due to the angle at which it was sitting. Instead, firefighters had to use ladders and then passengers were shuttled back to the terminal by bus. The accident didn’t affect other operations but it took crews several hours to remove the Boeing 717. There’s no word yet on the cause of the accident.
