SC Senate Votes in Favor of Moving Teachers Up in Vaccine Distribution Line

The state Senate has approved a bill to move teachers to Phase 1A of vaccine distribution. Despite Governor McMaster’s open disapproval of moving teachers to the front of the vaccine line, the bill was unanimously passed last night. It will allocate teachers, school staff and daycare workers to Phase 1A which is currently ongoing. DHEC will need to offer the group vaccinations within 30 days of the bill becoming law. However, there is a catch to the order, teachers would need to go back to teaching full-time, face-to-face for the rest of the school year.
