Explosives Potentially Stolen from California Marine Base
An investigation is now underway after explosives went missing from a California marine base. It was first reported last week that the explosives disappeared after being stored at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms. It’s one of the nation’s largest marine bases and is located near LA in the southern Mojave Desert. It’s believed the supplies were stolen during a long training exercise two weeks earlier. While it’s unconfirmed what kind of explosives went missing and how much, it’s believed it may have been around 10 pounds of C4. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is currently leading the investigation. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department and local law enforcement were notified of the theft but were not asked to assist. Not much else is known at this time and officials at the Twentynine Palms base have yet to make a comment. A reward is currently bring offered for the safe return of the explosives.
