Resolution Proposed to Expel Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene From Congress
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is facing backlash after previous comments she made have surfaced online. In February of 2018, seventeen people were killed and over a dozen injured when a gunman opened fire at a high school in Parkland, Florida. One of the survivors, David Hogg, has since become a huge advocate for gun control. In 2019, when Hogg was walking towards the Capitol to meet with senators, a video was taken of Greene following him. She tried to engage him in an argument, made baseless claims and questioned him over gun rights. At the end of the video she refers to Hogg as a “coward.” More video footage and comments are also now coming to light that allegedly show Greene supporting dangerous conspiracy theories, extremism, and supporting political violence against her Democratic colleagues between 2018 and 2019. As a result, Rep. Jimmy Gomez has introduced a resolution to have Greene expelled from Congress. It will require the support of two-thirds of the House. Greene claims she’s had “teams of people” managing her social media over the years and that some posts they made did not represent her views.
