President Biden Trying to Ramp Up Vaccination Efforts Nationwide

President Biden is now saying anyone who wants the coronavirus vaccine may be able to get one by the spring. The president initially set a goal of supplying 100 million vaccines nationwide in 100 days, with around one million vaccines per day. But as states have increased their vaccination efforts over the last few weeks, the country is reportedly now already averaging one million shots a day. This has prompted President Biden to up his daily goal to 1.5 million, with the hopes that we will get to 150 million vaccines in 100 days. In order to do this, the government will have to set up more vaccination sites, hire more people to administer the shots and ensure there are enough supplies such as syringes. President Biden has asked Congress for over $400 billion to fund the effort. 150 million shots means protection for around 75 million Americans, which is roughly 23% of the population. Around 70% of the population must be vaccinated to reach herd immunity. So far only around 23 million Americans have been vaccinated.
