President-elect Biden Outlines Top Priorities for First 100 Days in Office
President-elect Biden has released a list of his priorities for his first 100 days in office. First on his agenda is immediately reversing a decision signed by President Trump yesterday which lifts Covid-19 travel restrictions from Europe and Brazil by January 26th. Biden’s incoming administration confirmed shortly after, this change will not go into effect. They will instead strengthen current measures. Biden also hopes to get some control over the coronavirus by speeding up production of vaccines, setting up mass federal vaccination sites, and passing the new $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief bill. President-elect Biden also hopes with his new Covid package to help reform the economy by sending out more direct payments, offering more monetary aid to businesses, and extending the pause on student loans, evictions and foreclosures. Climate change and racial equality are among his other top priorities. Biden will reportedly reverse many of President Trump’s policies regarding climate deregulation and immigration, as well as rejoin the Paris Agreement. In his first day alone, the president-elect is expected to sign nearly a dozen actions.
