States Mobilize National Guard to Aid in Covid-19 Vaccine Administration

Several states are calling in the National Guard to help increase Covid-19 vaccination efforts. Yesterday, the U.S. once again set its highest daily death toll with over 3,770. This beat the previous record set last week by more than two dozen people. The U.S. has also surpassed 21 million infections with over 131,100 people currently hospitalized for Covid-19 nationwide. As numbers continue to rise, states are taking new measures to boost vaccine distribution.
Presently, around 19 million vaccines have been distributed across the nation, but only around 30% of those have been administered. Maryland, Arizona and North Carolina’s governors have now called in the National Guard to aid in the efforts and train additional volunteers. California’s governor has further promised more “aggressive action” which includes granting a waiver to allow trained dentists to administer the vaccine. Dr. Antony Fauci is hopeful the process will rapidly accelerate in the coming months.
