Protesters Clash with Police Ahead of Today’s Electoral College Vote Count

Speaking of the Electoral College, several protesters were arrested last night ahead of Congress meeting to debate and certify the votes today. Hundreds of President Trump supporters began gathering in Washington, D.C. as early as yesterday to rally behind him. In anticipation for potential riots, National Guard members were sent in and downtown businesses boarded up their windows. Unfortunately, there were clashes between them and law enforcement at Freedom Plaza. At least six people were arrested for various offenses that include weapons and ammunition possession, possessing a stun gun and assaulting an officer. Hundreds of others peacefully protested well into the night amid the cold temperatures and rain with more supporters expected to join them today. They’re awaiting the decision by Congress that is likely to confirm President-elect Biden’s win, despite challenges from Congressional leaders. Texas Senator Ted Cruz and a dozen others have promised to object to the verification and call for a delay.
