Heath Experts Once Again Urge Against Holiday Travel Due to Covid-19

Health experts continue to plead with Americans to forego their holiday travel plans due to Covid-19 this year. Everyday for the last two weeks, an average of 200,000 people have tested positive. While it appears infections are starting to level off, the number of hospitalizations and deaths nationwide continue to skyrocket. Presently, there are a record-breaking 117,000+ people receiving treatment in hospitals. And yesterday, more than 3,400 died, marking it as the second highest single-day death toll in the U.S. since the pandemic began. While two vaccines are now being distributed and administered across the country, it will have little effect until the majority of the general public is inoculated. There are concerns holiday gatherings will attribute to yet another surge, one in which hospitals and healthcare workers are unprepared for. Dr. Anthony Fauci is among those cautioning against large, indoor, and unmasked gatherings. This is especially prevalent as his colleague Dr. Deborah Birx has just announced her intentions to resign after 3 decades of public service. It comes as she receives criticism for hosting a family-filled event for Thanksgiving.
