Moderna Coronavirus Vaccine Roll Out Begins Today

Roll out for the Moderna vaccine begins today and not a moment too soon as this year is projected to be the deadliest in U.S. history. Preliminary data suggests the U.S. is on track to surpass 3.2 million deaths for the first time which would be at least a 15% increase compared to last year. Covid-19 is largely to blame after claiming the lives of nearly 320,000 Americans and counting. To make matters worse, infectious disease expert Dr. Fauci believes the new Covid variant discovered in the UK may already be in the U.S. Disease mutations are common and this new strain has not proven to be more deadly or ineffective against the new vaccines. But with a transmission rate of at least 50%, it could have serious implications on healthcare workers and hospitals if spread gets out of control. Fortunately, we now have two vaccines in rotation and the winter surge is expected to start falling within the next few weeks. Following President-elect Joe Biden and his wife’s inoculations yesterday, Dr. Fauci also received his first dose this morning.
