Man Who Set Wife on Fire in 2017 Accepts Plea Deal
A man who tried to kill his wife in 2017 by pouring gasoline on her and setting her on fire has been sentenced. Instead of attempted murder and first-degree arson, 32-year-old Charles Nethercutt now faces domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature as part of a plea deal. It includes no recommendation or negotiation and carries at least five years of active prison time with a potential of up to 20 years. The victim, who suffered severe burns during the incident, said in court she doesn’t believe jail will help rehabilitate him.
