Violence Breaks Out in Washington, D.C. After Protesters Clash

Multiple people were stabbed and at least 33 arrested after a Stop the Steal protest in Washington, D.C.  The incident occurred following news that the Supreme Court rejected President Trump’s most recent attempts to overturn the election results. A large protest in support of President Trump was organized for Saturday outside the Supreme Court and Freedom Plaza that lasted well into the evening. While the event was mostly peaceful, there was eventually conflicts with counter-protesters. Tensions between the two groups is believed to have sparked the violence. In the end, four people were stabbed and are now in critical condition. At least five other demonstrators and eight members of the Metropolitan Police Department were also hurt during the clash. Their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. 33 people were arrested and face various charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault on police officers, simple assault, riotous acts, crossing a police line and possession of a prohibited weapon, which was later revealed to be a taser.
