Gov. McMaster Unveils 3-Phase Distribution Plan for Coronavirus Vaccine
Governor McMaster also discussed the same matter of the state’s vaccine distribution plan yesterday. During a briefing, the governor revealed in what order South Carolinians will receive it. The 3-phase plan begins with critical health care workers. This will be followed by first responders, certain essential workers, and people over the age of 75. Phase 2 will include most other essential workers, people over age 65 or older and more. Phase 3 will cover the rest of the state’s residents. Below is the full breakdown of the plan:
Phase 1 A:
- Physicians
- Physicians’ Assistants
- Nurses
- Nurses Aides
- Physical Therapists
- Respiratory Therapists
- Speech Pathologists
- Medical Students
- Nursing Students
- Nursing Home/Long Term Care Facility residents/staff
- Medical personnel in jails, prisons and detention centers
- EMTs, paramedics, fire and law enforcement personnel with face-to-face contact with the public
- Hospice workers
- Home health workers
Phase 1B:
- Remaining first responders, including fire and law enforcement personnel that don’t have face-to-face contact with the public
- Utility workers, including water, trash, waste removal and transportation, among others
- Agribusiness and food production workers, including those in processing plants and canning facilities
- Congregate setting workers, including group homes, jails and detention centers and homeless shelters
- People aged 75 or older
- Persons with two or more of the following conditions:
- Cancer (not in remission)
- Chronic kidney disease
- COPD
- Diabetes
- Disability
- Heart Disease
- HIV/AIDS
- Obesity
- Pregnancy
- Sickle Cell Disease
Phase 2:
- Pharmacists
- Pharmacy Technicians
- Grocery store employees
- Food service and delivery workers
- Service industry
- Postal workers
- Public transit workers
- K-12 teachers and staff
- Childcare workers and staff
- School bus drivers
- Higher education instructors and staff
- Persons aged 65 or older
- Persons with one of the following conditions:
- Cancer
- Chronic kidney disease
- COPD
- Diabetes
- Disability
- Heart Disease
- HIV/AIDS
- Obesity
- Pregnancy
- Sickle Cell Disease
- Asthma
- Cerebral vascular disease
- Corticosteroids
