UK Issues New Warning Day After Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution Begins
It’s been a full day since the UK began administering their Covid-19 vaccine and now they are issuing a new warning. UK regulators are saying people who have a “significant history’’ of allergies shouldn’t receive the new Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine while they conduct an investigation into instances where patients had reactions following their immunization shot. Two people are said to be recovering well and will continue to be monitored. Health authorities have assured this is common with new vaccines and are only working on a precautionary basis. This is the same vaccine that is expected to come before the FDA tomorrow for emergency use approval in the U.S. In anticipation, the FDA issued a report determining the vaccine was safe, signaling it will likely go through. President Trump held a vaccine summit yesterday where he touted Operation Warp Speed and the drug’s effectiveness and signed an order promising to inoculate Americans before sharing any of the supply with other countries. He hopes to vaccinate as many as 24 million people by mid-January. President-elect Joe Biden has also set a goal of vaccinating 100 million Americans his first 100 days in office.
